SOPHIE TAEUBER-ARP. CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ
Sophie Taeuber-Arp (Davos 1889 – Zurich 1943) is a pioneering figure of classical modernism: she was an influential personality within the international, constructivist avant-garde and was active both as a liberal artist and in the field of applied art. Her oeuvre of applied art includes textile works, furniture design, home accessories and theatre puppets, while her liberal art includes drawing, painting and sculpture. She has also worked in architecture and interior design, as well as in modern dance and art education. All of her artistic fields are all connected and cannot be fully understood without considering Taeuber-Arp’s training and early work in the field of textile design.
In cooperation with the Fondazione Marguerite Arp in Locarno-Solduno (Switzerland), the Fondation Arp in Clamart (France) and the Stiftung Arp e. V. in Remagen and Berlin (Germany), SIK-ISEA is launching a new catalogue raisonné project dedicated to the extraordinarily diverse and extensive oeuvre of this exceptional artist. The project will also be supported by Walburga Krupp, a proven specialist, as an external expert. The project will result in a printed catalogue raisonné of Taeuber-Arp’s complete oeuvre as well as in a freely accessible digital version, both in English.
